Fracture – 20 April 2007 – Directed by Gregory Hoblit
Overview:
Although it isn’t really an action movie, or have very many intense parts, you are surprisingly not left really bored and wanting to leave the theater while you are watching it. Its pretty similar to a lot of the court-room type movies you see, where people talk in court, lawyer goes and talks to person in jail, lawyer looks around, back in court room.. etc, but it keeps its pace and keeps you entertained.
Plot:
Basically a guy (Anthony Hopkins) kills his wife because she’s having an affair. The cops arrest Hopkins’ character, but they can’t convict him because the officer who arrested him, and was there while he gave his confession and all sorts stuff is the guy that his wife was fucking, so all that evidence gets thrown out the window. And there are a hole bunch of other twists and turns like that which make Hopkins’ character to be even more badass.
Was it good?
Yeah it was decent. Anthony Hopkins does a great job at playing this character who is obviously way smarter than everyone else. You can tell his character has gotten a bit bored, and is really enjoying fucking around with the lawyer who is prosecuting him (Ryan Gosling). Gosling does a good job as well, although when he gets angry he doesn’t actually seem to be really pissed off or anything.
Any bad parts?
Yeah almost all movies have their bad parts. Although you don’t really bored, some parts of this movie are boring, and I imagine if I were to watch this a second time I would probably be really bored. I think the main exciting part of this movie is not knowing what will happen. The ending was a piece of shit too. It doesn’t even end properly. Okay well it shows what is happening, and you are left to assume what the final outcome was, but what the fuck is that? Don’t make us just assume! Closure!!! I need closure!! Whose to say by some miracle he didn’t get off the charges again and shit! ARG!
Rating:
6.5/10 – Wasn’t great, wasn’t terrible then. Just because the movie didn’t bore the hell out of me doesn’t mean its that good. I like Anthony Hopkins, so if he wasn’t it in its possible this would have been rated lower, but I think his acting does make the movie a lot better.
